As for "Would people still 'like me'...?" Well... You gathered 4 fans by 'doing art'. The worst case scenario would be that you lose all four*. If it is "recognition" you are after, you will gain more of it by doing NSFW-work - but most of it from anonymous accounts without an avatar. Some will write pretty neat reviews, others will make you step away from the PC... There is no relationship without downsides...
That was a rather neutral prediction - but I also have a more personal take on it:
1)
Practice the basics: Look up guides for shading/lighting and anatomy, draw cubes in perspective, practice drawing hands by drawing your own... Try drawing something with just a pencil... Stuff like that.
2)
If you let others decide what kind of art you do, you will end up disliking art, because the community you attracted makes the rules - not you.
